Clan Meeting Call Leader: Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey join here beneath [Highrock, etc.] for a Clan meeting!
This is not technically a ceremony, but important all the same. The Apprentice Ceremony Leader: "[kit's name], from this moment on, you will be known as [kit's new apprentice name]."
"[warrior who is to mentor the new apprentice's name], you are ready to take on an apprentice. You will be mentor to [newly-made apprentice's name]."
"[warrior who is to mentor the new apprentice's name], you have shown yourself to be a [two warrior qualities, such as cunning or courage] warrior. Do all that you can to pass on what you know down to [newly-made apprentice's name]."
The new mentor-apprentice pair touches noses and withdraws back into the crowd. The Medicine Cat Apprentice Ceremony Medicine Cat: "Cats of [Clan name], it is time for me to take on an apprentice. Your next medicine cat will be [new medicine cat apprentice's name]."
Leader: "[new medicine cat apprentice's name], do you accept the post of apprentice to [medicine cat name]?" Medicine Cat Apprentice: "I do." Leader: "Then at the half-moon, you must travel to Mothermouth to be accepted by StarClan before the other medicine cats. The good wishes of [Clan name] will go with you." The medicine cat and newly-named medicine cat apprentice touch noses before withdrawing into the crowd. At the next half-moon, they will travel to Highstones to finalize the ceremony. The Warrior Ceremony Leader: "I, [leader's name], leader of [Clan name], call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. [He/She] has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend them to you as a warrior in their turn."
"[apprentice's name], do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend this Clan, even at the cost of your life?"
Apprentice: "I do." Leader: "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. [apprentice's name], from this moment you will be known as [apprentice's new warrior name]. StarClan honors your [two warrior qualities, such as cunning or courage], and we welcome you as a full warrior of [Clan name]." Then, the Clan leader steps forth to rest their muzzle on the newly-named warrior's head, and the warrior respectfully licks the leader's shoulder. The rest of the Clan cheers the new warrior's name, and the newly-named warrior prepares to sit vigil until dawn. The Deputy Ceremony To qualify for deputyship, the soon-to-be deputy needs to be officially named deputy before Moonhigh, and needs to have mentored an apprentice. If the deputy died (whether it be of sickness, age, or battle), the leader should use the following words: Leader: "I say these words before the body of [previous deputy's name], so that [His/Her] spirit may hear and approve my choice."
"[new deputy's name] will be the new deputy of [Clan name]." However, if the previous deputy was forced into exile or driven from the Clan, the leader should use the following words: Leader: "I say these words before StarClan, that the spirits of our ancestors may hear and approve my choice."
"The new deputy will be [new deputy's name]." The Elder Ceremony Leader: [warrior that wishes to retire's name], is it your wish to give up the name of the warrior and go to join the elders?"
Warrior that wishes to Retire: "It is." Leader: "Your Clan honors you and all the service you have given us. I call upon StarClan to give you many seasons of rest." If An Apprentice Is Dying... Leader: "I ask my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. [He/She] has learned the warrior code andgiven up [His/Her] life in the service of her Clan. Let StarClan recieve [Him/Her] as a warrior."
"[He/She] will be known as [dying apprentice's warrior name]."
Name-Change Ceremony Leader: "Spirits of StarClan, you know every cat by name. I ask you now to take away the name from the cat you see before you, for it no longer stands for what [He/She] is. By my authority as Clan leader, and with the approval of our warrior ancestors, I give this cat a new name. From this moment [He/She] will be known as [new name]."
